Poorest Garmin yet Have used this Garmin for 6 months but are returning it because it could not find an address in Edmonton which has been on the map for many years. But this was just the straw that broke the camels back. We have disliked this Garmin ever since we got it because their search system is ridiculous - you can only enter a house # and a street # and that is all. They refuse to search from the name of a town so they are searching all over the country uselessly.

So when it couldn’t find the Edmonton address I used my iPhone which had no problem guiding me to the location. The other features like 3D map, red camera warnings, school zones are all helpful but I hope I can find another Garmin which has the proper search system. Very good product for the price This is my first Garmin gps/dashcam. I did a lot of research before purchasing th 50LMT. It has most of the items I wanted and it has proven to be reliable in most cases.

This would be a perfect product but for two things. One it does not record voice which would prove valuable in many ways and it does not have a 110 volt cord to charge the unit. It works great if you have it connected to the vehicle. However when you want to attach it to the computer for up grades etc the battery life is not long enough to complete the process sometimes. It would also be nice to be able to plug the unit into the wall and go through and learn all its features. Over all I am very pleased with this unit.

Not Quite What I Expected I bought this quickly as my Garmin Nuvi 2595 fell off the windshield and hit my gearshift and smashed the touchscreen glass and I had a long drive right after. This unit was on sale on-line so I figured, it's got to be a better unit. Well, in a couple of ways it is, but in most - no!

Firstly, the dash cam feature is great, but in Garmin's infinite wisdom, it does NOT record audio as well. This is a very desirable feature as audio can help show how an incident transpired, so I'm frustrated by that. Neither Garmin nor Best Buy showed in the sales literature that this was the case.

This unit has a lot of warning features, but the problem is there are far too many! If you have all the Alerts turned on and the audible chimes that go with them, this unit is constantly beeping and chiming as you go down the road. These warnings are more a distraction hazard as opposed to a safety warning.

I really don't need to know where every bend in the road is. That's overkill, same with the animal crossings. The 'Bend' feature I've yet to find out how to turn off, and it's constantly obscuring the important road info I need to know on the top of the screen. The resolution on this is very basic, far from what a product of this era and price should provide. The dash cam itself is good (1080p), but it stores the video in 1:02 minute files!

That's crazy. If you're trying to find something specific, you have to wade through literally hundreds of files to find what you are looking for. There is no way to change the duration, that I can find. Lastly, the 'Voice Control' feature is very finicky.

Much more so than my Nuvi 2595. I recorded my voice for all the commands and it doesn't seem to recognize any command, even after multiple tries, with no background noise, etc. Again my Nuvi 2595 had a generic 'Voice Command' protocol, but it was far superior to this thing, and anyone could use the feature, not just the person that recorded the commands. Also, I can't voice control my Bluetooth enabled phone without touching the touchpad. This is totally ridiculous. There is no voice-activated 'Phone' command.

All in all, unless I'm missing something, this unit is overall far inferior to my last Garmin, so much so that I'm seriously thinking of returning it and getting something a lot more user friendly. Newer doesn't necessarily mean better.
